This week in Wheatgrass Class...

·         In English this week we have been talking about our new topic, discussing what we already know about castles and what we want to find out this term. We thought of lots of great questions we wanted to ask during our trip!
·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been working on using words to describe position and direction. The Y1s have been working on describing position, direction and whole, half and quarter turns.

·         This week have been learning about the different features of a castle. We also took part in a problem-solving morning, finding out which was the most popular destination for our school trip.

This week in Wheatgrass Class...

In English this week we have been reading and performing some simple poems and working hard to find rhyming words to use in poems of our own.
- In Maths this week the Reception children have been working on finding different ways to make ten. The Year One children have been solving word problems involving addition and subtraction.
- In our topic work we have been busy using the laptops to draw a picture of our house. We also took part in some pancake races and watched a great performance of Robin Hood on the last day of term!

Christenings

On Tuesday we learned about Christenings and why they take place. We were lucky enough to be visited by Canon Valerie who performed a Christening service for us. We also had a go at making some stained glass windows.

Pancake Races

This week we took part in our first pancake race! Everyone did a great job for their school team!

This week in Wheatgrass Class...

·          In English this week we have been busy working hard on our phonics and retelling a traditional tale in our writing. We also read a Winnie the Witch story and designed and labelled the house we would have if we were magic!
·          In Maths this week the Reception children have been working on recognising and forming larger numbers. The Y1s have been working on adding and subtracting groups of objects.

·          This week we tried to find out which material would make a good waterproof coat for Ted – it turned out that plastic was a pretty good option! We also learned about how houses had changed over the years.
