This week in Wheatgrass Class...

·         In English this week we talked about our visit to Lincoln Cathedral. We sequenced the different activities in the correct order and then wrote about what happened on the trip.
·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been practising their doubling and halving skills, using objects and numbers. The Y1s have been working on recognising and describing 2D and 3D shape.

·         On Monday we visited Lincoln Cathedral and had a great time learning about the building – we couldn’t believe how big it was! We have also been learning about Christianity and why people pray.

This week in Wheatgrass Class……

·         In English this week we read the story of The Three Little Pigs. We sequenced the events in the correct order and had a go at labelling characters in the story and retelling the story in our own words.
·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been subtracting one number from another and recording their work in a number sentence. The Y1s have been working on making different amounts of money using 1ps and 2ps and adding and subtracting using coins.
·         In science we built houses using different materials and we watched what happened when the big bad wolf tried to blow them down. We also had a go at filming each other retelling a traditional tale and worked hard on our jumping skills in PE!

The Three Little Pigs

Today we took part in an investigation to linked to our work on The Three Little Pigs. We built houses made of different materials and then tested how strong they were when the big bad wolf came to visit. Great teamwork and lots of brilliant ideas from everyone!

This week in Wheatgrass Class...

·         In English this week we have been reading the story of ‘Goldilocks and The Three Bears’. We retold the story in small groups and then had a go at describing what Goldilocks looked like and how she acted. Most of us thought she was very naughty!
·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been adding two numbers together using objects and recording our work in a number sentence. The Y1s have been working on estimating and measuring the weight of objects, finding the lightest and heaviest objects and adding the weight of two objects together.

·         In science we looked at the properties of different materials such as wood, plastic, metal and fabric. We started to build our junk model homes and began learning about the features of a Christian church.

This week in Wheatgrass Class……

·         In English this week have been talking lots about Christmas and writing lists and labels about our holidays. We have also started to think about our new topic of ‘homes.’
·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been matching numbers to objects and practising their number formation. The Y1s have been working on recognising two-digit numbers, counting in tens and partitioning numbers into tens and ones.

·         We have started to learn about our new science topic of materials and went on a materials hunt around school. We also painted some pictures of our homes and talked about what type of house we live in. A great first week back!
