This week in Wheatgrass Class...

·         In English this week we have been reading the story of ‘The Polar Express.’ We predicted what might happen in the story and described how the character was feeling. We then wrote a letter asking to go on the train ourselves.

·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been adding and subtracting groups of objects. The Y1s have been learning about money, finding different amounts and adding different amounts together.          

·         We have also finished our Diwali lamps and had a go at learning some songs for our Christmas play. 

Shadows

We loved using the torches this week. We took part in an investigation to find out what happened to a shadow when the light moved closer to or further away from the object. 

This week in Wheatgrass Class……

·         In English this week we have been busy learning about and retelling the Diwali story of Rama and Sita. We acted out the story and talked about the different characters. We then had a go at retelling the story in our own words.

·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been comparing and measuring the weight and capacity of different objects. The Y1s have also been working on capacity, measuring different sized containers, sorting them into groups and finding half and quarter of the amount of water.   

·         We have also been learning about learning about shadows, using the torches to find out how to make a shadow and what happens when the light is closer or further away from the object. We have also begun to make our Diwali lights using clay. 

This week in Wheatgrass Class...

·         In English this week we have been reading the story of ‘The tiger who came to tea.’ We had a go at thinking of our own character for the story and imagined that he came to our house and ate all of our food!

·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been working hard to measure the length and height of different objects whilst the Y1s have been working on finding halves and quarters of shapes and groups of objects.   

·         We have also been learning about Remembrance Day and pained some great poppy field paintings. We have also been busy talking about Children in Need and had lots of fun raising money by wearing our pyjamas on Friday!

This week in Wheatgrass Class……

·         In English this week we have been learning about Bonfire Night. We talked about fireworks and the sounds that they make and had a go at thinking of some great adjectives to describe them. We read some poems about fireworks and the Y1s had a go at writing a poem of their own.

·         In Maths this week the Reception children have been busy sorting and sharing objects whilst the Y1s have been working on number patterns and sorting shapes into groups.   

·         We have also been busy creating different firework sounds using instruments and have been working on balancing in PE. In science, we started to learn about the sun and different sources of light.
