Den Day
On Friday we had a brilliant day supporting Save the Children by taking part in Den Day. We made dens in our outdoor area and on the field, working very well as a team and having lots of fun too!

This week in Wheatgrass Class...
· In literacy this week we have been working on writing our own riddles. We wrote some clues about a minibeast and then asked our friends to guess what we had written about.
· In maths this week the Reception children have been busy estimating and measuring the weight and capacity of different objects. The year one children have been working on recognising and describing 2D and 3D shapes.
· In our topic work this week we have been working on recording videos of each other using Ipads. We were also very excited – and a little bit sad – to release our butterflies into the wild! On Friday we took part in Den-Day to support Save the Children, working very well as a team to make some brilliant dens!

This week in Wheatgrass Class...
·
In literacy this week we listened
to the story ‘Aaaargh, spider!’ We talked about the different events and the
characters in the story and had a go at retelling it in our own words.
·
In maths this week the Reception children
have been busy working on recognising and ordering two-digit
numbers. The year
one children have been working on telling time to the hour and half-hour.
·
In our topic work this week
we
have been learning about the habitats of different minibeasts.
We compared lots of different materials and then went on a hunt outdoors to
find materials for our own minibeast homes. We have also been busy painting our
own minibeast stones which look great!

VE Day!
On Friday we celebrated the anniversary of VE Day! We came to school wearing red, white and blue and took part in lots of different activities. First, we made and decorated our own flags for the VE Day celebration. Then we decorated our class wreath, based on our theme of Great Britain. We also made some paper-chains to decorate the school with.
We had a very exciting lunchtime, as we were able to eat our lunch outside with the rest of the school! We then spent the afternoon taking part in lots of different 1940s-themed games and activities such as skipping, pin the tail on the donkey, marbles and lindyhop!
Finally, we took part in a whole-school assembly to remember the people who fought in the war.
