This week in Wheatgrass Class……

      - In Literacy we have been busy reading the story ‘Funnybones.’ We talked about what happened in the story and then compared the story to a short film clip. We also had a go at labelling the different parts of the skeleton.

      -In Maths the Reception children have been busy recognising and ordering numbers. They have also been on a number hunt in the outdoor area. The Y1 children have working on measuring the length, height and weight of different objects.

   - In our topic work we have been thinking about the main parts of our bodies and how we can keep them healthy. We have also had a go at sorting healthy and unhealthy food into groups.  

This week in Wheatgrass Class……

      - In Literacy we have been busy talking about our families and what they mean to us. We talked about who was in our family and what we like to do together. We then had a go at drawing and labelling a picture of our family.

      -  In Maths the Reception children have been busy working on their counting skills, remembering to point to each object to make sure we don’t miss any out. The Y1 children have been continuing to work on their counting skills, including finding one more and one less and counting in 2s. 

    - In our topic work we have been busy painting pictures of our families. We also spent lots of time outside, digging in the mud, exploring the sand and taking part in different role play activities.  

This week in Wheatgrass Class……

       -In Literacy we have been busy learning about ourselves! We have talked about what we like to do at school and what makes a good friend. We have also had a go at writing our names and drawing and labelling a picture of ourselves.

      -In Maths the Reception children have been busy singing lots of number songs and playing some number games. The Y1 children have been working hard on their counting skills.                  
-In our topic work we have been busy painting self-portraits for our classroom display. We have also talked about the school’s Golden Values and what they mean to us. We also discussed our new topic and what we hope to learn this term. 

A fabulous first week!

Welcome back to a new school year! We have had a fantastic first couple of days at school and everyone has been busy getting to know each other. The new children have settled brilliantly and we know that Wheatgrass will be the best class at Caythorpe!
